Welcome to our latest travel post! Today, we're excited to introduce you to a hidden gem in Antigua and Barbuda - Old Road. Located on the southwestern coast of Antigua, this charming locality is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the island's rich history and culture.
As you explore Old Road, you'll be transported back in time to the 18th century, when the area played a vital role in the island's sugar trade. The town's namesake comes from the old road that was once used to transport sugar cane from the surrounding plantations to the nearby port of Falmouth.
One of the top attractions in Old Road is the beautifully restored Betty's Hope Plantation. This former sugar plantation was once one of the largest on the island and is now a living museum that offers visitors a glimpse into Antigua's colonial past. You can explore the property's restored windmill and sugar factory, as well as the Great House, which has been transformed into a museum.
